But there've been times when moustaches were considered the height of manly good looks. Hairy lips have come and gone as Kiwi blokes proved to be dedicated followers of fashion. To celebrate 'Movember' we've just launched New Zealand men and their moustaches , which includes some wonderful images and 'A moustache timeline'. Disasters We've recently launched a whole new category on Disasters . This includes a New Zealand disasters timeline and in-depth features on the Tangiwai , Wahine and Erebus tragedies. Railway stations The Railway stations topic discusses the rise and fall of these familiar community landmarks. It explains how the railway station was a community hub but also a magnet for vandalism and other petty crime. 1951 waterfront dispute The waterfront dispute of 1951 was the biggest industrial confrontation in New Zealand's history.
